Ponds in cities: blue infrastructures under pressure. A joint project with IGB starts in March 2024 - will you join us?

The ARL is looking for a research associate (postdoc) on the sustainable planning of urban ponds, in the Leibniz Association-funded Leibniz Excellence Project "Pollution in urban ponds, eco-evolutionary dynamics and ecosystem resilience" (POUNDER) from March 1, 2024. The position will be based in Hannover, Germany.

The overall aim of the project is to assess the importance of urban ponds as nature-based solutions to cope with climate-related hydrological risks while promoting biodiversity and human well-being in cities. POUNDER is an inter- and transdisciplinary project involving partners from Berlin, Stechlin, Potsdam, Hannover and the University of Iowa, USA.

The Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) is responsible for the overall organization of the project. POUNDER will deal with the planning and management of ponds in Berlin and will be responsible for communication processes, as well as developing scenarios for the future management of these important blue infrastructures in coordination with the project partners.
